Happy Blog Day! It hit me a couple of years ago. What we focus on expands in our lives. If we focus on the good in our lives, we tend to be filled with joy! If we focus on all the negativity in our lives, we will be filled with depression and despair. So, I try to make a conscience effort to focus on the good, the fun, the silly, and always surround myself with those who are the same!
Today the conversation with my team was how we embarrass our children. Those of you who are parents, so appreciate this conversation! And as parents, how that brings us a tiny bit of joy! Yes, we are doing our best to raise smart, kind and contributing members of society, however, the best way to keep them humble is to give them a huge kiss in front of their classroom every once in awhile! My sweet Henry wanted me to walk him into school the other day, and I obliged, of course! Upon leaving, he was seated on the class carpet in front and I yelled, “Good bye Henry Brown! I love you! You’re the cutest boy in First Grade!” The look I was given was priceless! The lecture I was given that evening was even better! I can not wait till middle school! He and his sister are my joy, and I relish every minute with them!
It was about 5 years ago I was introduced to another joy in my life, cycling. Many of you know, I love to ride the bike. I’m not one to compete with the bike or be aggressive with it. I just love to ride! The Big Dam Bridge Race was this past Saturday. Unfortunately, I did not participate this year. I have not participated in a race yet, but I’m not opposed. There is nothing better than the wind in your face, talking with friends, seeing different areas of the city and exercising at the same time! If you have never taken the time to see the trails, you are missing a whole new level of joy in our city!!! People come from all over the country to see what we have to offer, strictly just for our outdoor opportunities!
Of course, Real Estate brings me a ton of JOY! Why else would I do it? If I didn’t find joy in helping others improve their homes for their kiddos by letting them know where to go get a discount on flooring, joy in praying with a client who is in financial distress while we help them sell their home and no longer be burdened and relieve their stresses, joy in helping a family purchase a home to welcome that first baby into their lives! What you focus on truly does expand! Where do you find joy?
