What is your power? Psalm 40:11
Many of you have messaged me, asked me around town or jokingly asked at social events, “What is a PowerMom?” Or “What is the definition of a PowerWoman?” The definition, description of a PowerMom or PowerWoman is defined differently within each of us. Many women do things I choose never to do. Are they more powerful than me? No! Well, some are, yet I still define myself as a PowerMom and a PowerWoman. I am able to do things many other women choose not to do, and they are no less a PowerMom or PowerWoman than me. There is judgement in the question. Get out of judgement and into curiosity! We do not always have to require a definition for another to identify with something. It is this same judgement that has caused others to say to me, “I can’t be a member of that group, I’m not very powerful.” We all have amazing gifts and opportunity, which give us our own unique “power”! It is up to each of us to identify it and use it for the good of others!
In starting this group, the intent was to build my village. I wanted to create a space for a few of my mom friends to have a group where we could share things about our kids, work, mom night out and the group text would finally move to our facebook group. As the group organically grew, the topics women have shared have broadened my knowledge of everything woman! The statistics are shocking in our country regarding the status of women! Only 20% of the C-Suite positions in our country are held by women. No wonder women do not feel as if they can be part of a group with the word “power” in the title! We should always be in curiosity and out of judgment, and as women we should practice a little more self-care and invest in ourselves professionally and move the pendulum! It is through groups such as Little Rock PowerWomen that we pour into one another and we move the pendulum and rise! #powermom #powerwoman. It is time for us to build the bench of talent and build our bench of opportunity! How are you helping another woman rise?
As the Facebook group has grown, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people I didn’t know otherwise. To learn of the journey of so many amazing women has been such a gift! We are so blessed to have so many servant leaders with such talent all around us! Thank you to all of you who continue to serve others, so that I may continually learn from your leadership!
